Start Monitoring the Forest

In 2018 Black Rock Forest was awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation to build a Wireless Mesh network for environmental research and public education.

The network has WiFi hotspots throughout the forest and is now open for use by scientists, academics, and students.

There are several ways to get involved, including adding your own WiFi-enabled sensors, deploying PhenoCams, camera traps, CritterCams or building out your own sensor kits with open-source software called the store and forward nodes.

This page will provide you the resources and instructions needed to get started.
